About
Why did we build downstram.eco?
Many apps come from frustration in trying to find products to match requirements. While sustainability is treated as important, companies are becoming more aware of their responsibilities and also their customers are requiring good climate credentials from the products that they use. The primary focus for organisations is the direct power that they use, however, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol also includes downstream usage of products to be included in an overall measurement of a companies CO2 footprint. Downstream.eco was built in frustration in finding a good product to measure and monitor the power usage of a website used by a customer. This could be an application built by yourself, or it could be a marketing website promoting your services. All are ran on your customers computers and take up power for network transfer and compute on their computer.
What do we do?
We make it easy to measure and monitor the power used in network transfer and processing your company website on your customers computers and estimate your CO2 footprint. New releases or updates can be flagged, to show how they affect your footprint. We calculate network and compute energy usage per user for your site based on an average visit and multiply up by the estimated number of users per month to give an estimated CO2 footprint per month
